Youth

The 15-24 age group makes up almost one fifth of the total population in Arab countries. Such a young population has the potential to accelerate development, but it faces significant hurdles in the form of massive unemployment and limited participation in decision-making.

Guided by the World Programme of Action for Youth and its belief in the potential of the young generations to transform the region, ESCWA monitors the situation of Arab youth, provides policy advice and promotes partnerships between Governments and youth-led civil society organizations.
