ESCWA’s virtual workshop on empowering youth and enhancing their participation in public affairs in Sudan aims at enabling and enhancing the active and sustainable participation of youth in the process of developing, implementing and evaluating their own policies and plans that contribute to their aspirations.
The workshop contributed to meeting a number of objectives related to the toolkit including:
- Providing expertise and technical knowledge, skills and capabilities required to influence decision-making, through the adoption of mechanisms based on the principle of participation;
- Promoting young people's knowledge of the mechanisms of governance and identifying constitutional mechanisms related to youth and the efficiency of meeting their needs and safeguarding their rights;
- Exchange of experiences between representatives of youth institutions, civic organizations concerned with youth and government bodies on their changing functions, priorities, methods of intervention and future vision, and on ways to activate policy partnerships.
