UN-ESCWA (The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia), in partnership with the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF), holds an expert group meeting on “Harnessing Technology for Enhanced Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Productivity and Competitiveness” on 3 and 4 November 2007 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mirage City in Cairo, Egypt. The expert group meeting will be held concurrently and complementarily with the ASTF “Made in the Arab World” Competition finals, scheduled to open at 9:00 AM on Saturday 3 November. |

United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UN-ESCWA (the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia), Mr. Bader Omar Aldafa, heads to the Qatari capital, Doha, today, to partake in the Annual Arab Banking Conference for 2007, organized by the Union of Arab Banks (UAB), in cooperation with the Qatar Central Bank and the World Union of Arab Bankers, between 7 and 8 November 2007 in Sheraton Hotel, Doha, and held under the auspices of Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar. |

Amman Hosts Regional Forum |
UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, (UN-ESCWA), Mr. Bader Al Dafa, arrives in Amman tomorrow, Tuesday, to open the inter-regional forum on “Trade Facilitation and Regional Trade Agreements” held on 14-15 November 2007 in Kempinski Hotel in Amman, Jordan. During his visit, Al Dafa is to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Abdelelah Al-Khatib, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Mrs. Suhair Al-Ali, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Salem Khazaaleh. |

On The International Day of Solidarity with The Palestinian People |
United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, said that this year’s observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People “comes at a time when Palestinians continue to suffer the indignities and violence of occupation and conflict, but also at a time when a new beginning has been made in efforts to achieve a two State solution to the conflict.” Ban’s words came in the message he addressed on the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed on 29 November of each year, in the wake of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 32/40 B. |
