Palestine and Israeli Occupation

Each year, ESCWA prepares a note by the United Nations Secretary-General on the impact of Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan. It organizes events to highlight the plight of the Palestinian people and continued violations by Israel of international law and United Nations resolutions.

ESCWA seeks to develop, along with its Palestinian, regional and international partners, strategies to raise awareness of and mitigate the adverse impact of the occupation and military offensives by Israel, and to realize the rights of the Palestinian people, in particular to self-determination, return and development. It works to build the capacity of Palestinian institutions, both in the occupied territories and abroad, and encourages regional and international actors to forge development partnerships with their Palestinian counterparts.
