ESCWA is uniquely placed to mitigate the adverse effects of occupation and conflict in its member States. It focuses on raising awareness of the cost of conflict and demonstrating the mutually beneficial effects of peace, respect for human rights and development. Such analysis lies behind policies and programmes that build the resilience of populations affected by conflict and contribute to the advancement of development in spite of protracted and emerging crises.
