11 December 2014	UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session to Convene Under Auspices of Lebanese House Speaker	Under the auspices of Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) is holding its 24th Ministerial Session at the UN House, Beirut, on 10 and 11 May 2006. The Ministerial Session is the main governing body of the Commission, which decides on its policy.
11 December 2014	ICT Policy Makers to Attend UNESCWA Workshop Tuesday	Policy-makers from governmental institutions in charge of ICT policy development, particularly from least developed and post-conflict countries in the region, will attend a Workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy Making in UNESCWA Member Countries. Organized by UNESCWA in coordination with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the workshop will last from 2 to 4 May 2006, at the UN House, Beirut.
11 December 2014	Star Academy 2006 to Visit UNESCWA Friday	The popular contestants of Star Academy 2006 will be visiting UNESCWA headquarters in Beirut at 2pm, Friday 5 May 2006. Their visit begins with a meeting with UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy followed by a press conference to launch the musical concert they plan to hold at the UNESCO Palace as part of the side events of the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session.

11 December 2014	Star Academy 2006 at UNESCWA	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy said the Arab youth are facing tremendous political, security, economic and social challenges that are driving them abroad in search for a better future. Tallawy was speaking to the contestants of Star Academy 2006 who visited the UN House ahead of a music concert they will be holding at 8:00pm Tuesday at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut, as part of the cultural events organized on the sidelines of the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session in Beirut from 8 to 11 May 2006.

11 December 2014	Review of the Millenium Development Goals on Agenda of UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session	Participants in the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session are due to discuss Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the UNESCWA Region based on a report prepared by UNESCWA in 2005 with the collaboration of several United Nations agencies in the region. The report was prepared in order to facilitate the review of follow-up action by policymakers aimed at achieving the MDGs by 2015.
11 December 2014	Contestants of Star Academy 2006 Cast Plea for Arab Youth	Winner of the 2006 Star Academy Joseph Attieh will address a large audience made up of prominent political, diplomatic, media and cultural figures at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut, tomorrow. He will address his plea to Arab officials on behalf of his colleagues Hanaa El Idrissi (Morocco), Hani Hussein and Rakiya Ibrahim (Egypt), Joseph Attieh and Maya Nehme (Lebanon), Khalifa Salem (UAE), Fadi Andraos (Palestine), Chayma Hilaly and Wajdi Lakhal (Tunis).
11 December 2014	Senior Officials Meet to Begin UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy presented the topics to be covered by Arab ministers participating in the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session, chiefly: the New Challenges in the Region and their Impact on the Work of UNESCWA; Facing Youth Unemployment Problems in the UNESCWA Region; Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the UNESCWA Region: the Damascus Declaration; and Review of the Progress Made by Yemen in the Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the decade 2001-2010.
