ESCWA is implementing the project: “Institutional and capacity building for Parliaments in Selected Arab Countries and other stake holders to implement SCR 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security”. The project’s goal is to build the capacity of Arab parliaments in Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Tunisia, and Libya. The project also includes the production of a regional study on the gaps in legislation for the implementation of SCR 1325 on women, peace and security in selected Arab Countries. |

Launching the 2020 ICP Cycle & Treatment of 2018 Price Data |
ESCWA conducted a regional meeting for launching the 2020 ICP Cycle and for Treatment and Validation of 2018 Household and Non-Household Consumption Price Data. With the 2017 ICP Cycle coming to an end, the 2020 ICP Cycle will require full collection of data for 2020 to eventually compute PPPs and the corresponding indicators. |

Roundtable discussion on estimating the cost of violence against women in the Arab region |
The ESCWA Centre for Women and UN-Women are organizing a roundtable discussion on estimating the cost of violence against women. The meeting shall discuss the draft conceptual model to estimate the cost of violence against women in the Arab region with the aim of soliciting input from economists, statisticians and sociologists towards its finalization. This model is expected to be easily adapted and used by Arab member States to populate it and calculate an empirical estimate of the cost of violence in their respective countries. |
