The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), the Arab States Regional Office for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria held regional consultations on estimating the economic cost of violence against women, on 24 and 25 October 2017, at the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, Arab Republic of Egypt. The regional consultations were organised for Arab National Women Machineries and National Statistics Offices in the Arab region.

Under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, ESCWA and the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (NCRS), in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Administrative Reform, organized a workshop on National Technology Transfer System, on 23 February 2017, at Grand Serail, Beirut.

The workshop is part of the regional ESCWA project on setting up  national technology transfer systems in five Arab countries members of ESCWA, namely Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia.

UNESCWA has just launched a new website showcasing the activities of its Programme Planning and Technical Cooperation Division (PPTCD), which plays a support role in planning, coordinating and monitoring UNESCWA projects and activities. This website will provide access to UNESCWA services as well.
