This workshop, which will be held from 6-8 May 2018 in Amman – Jordan, targets national human rights institutions and national women machineries in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as in some countries of the Horn of Africa. |

Technical Advisory Group on Demographic and Social Statistics |
The main goal of establishing of a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is to provide recommendations on strategies, as well as substantive and methodological guidelines for achieving goals in the area of population and social statistics. In its first meeting, the TAG focused on ensuring that all countries in the region have the capacity to deliver a core set of population and social indicators needed for the SDGs among other planning and monitoring purposes. |

UNSD/ESCWA Technical Assistance to Lebanon on Improving Energy Statistics for Sustainable Development |
The objective of this assessment mission is to assist the General Directorate of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) and the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) in producing a step-by-step plan towards meeting Lebanon’s energy statistics needs. For this purpose, other government stakeholders’ views need to be considered so that the collective national policy needs in this area are incorporated in the plan. Cooperation and coordination among agencies will be essential to improve Lebanon’s energy statistics in a cost-efficient way. |

Management Training for the Iraqi Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works |
The management training module is targeting a group of experts from the Iraqi Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works (MoMPW). The Training forms a component of the UNDG Iraq Trust Fund financing a UNDP project to build the capacity of the Iraqi MoMPW. The training modules focus on management issues highlighting specialized topics relevant to each group of participants. The program of the modules also included field visits to various Lebanese private and public sector institutions to expose the Iraqi participants to the expertise and work methods of relevant Lebanese counterparts. |
