The ESCWA Centre for Women and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Office in Beirut are organizing a workshop on monitoring, control and protection of human rights including sexual and reproductive health and rights. This workshop, which will be held from 6-8 May 2018 in Amman – Jordan, targets national human rights institutions and national women machineries in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as in some countries of the Horn of Africa. The workshop will allow to strengthen collaboration between national women machineries and national human rights institutions especially in documenting the status of women and women’s sexual and reproductive health within the framework of international conventions.

This joint project aims to:
a) Support the skills of national human rights institutions and national women machineries in using international systems to protect human rights;
b) promote the role of national human rights institutions and national women machineries in ensuring states accountability and compliance with international human rights standards related to sexual and reproductive health and rights;
c) find working tools that would help those institutions function;
d) promote communication and strengthen collaboration between national human rights institutions and national women machineries.
