The Sustainable Development Policies Division (SDPD) in ESCWA organized, in cooperation with the Arab Union of Electricity (AUE), and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) in Jordan, a training Workshop on: “Energy Efficiency in Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electricity Systems”, in 4-5 September 2016 in Amman-NEPCO Headquarter. Participants included engineers from the concerned Ministries, Institutions and Utilities in the Arab Countries.

The training workshop developed the capacity of participants, with focus on: energy efficiency in electricity generation from fossil fuel and renewable energy, efficiency of cogeneration and desalination, decreasing technical losses on grids, technologies, techno economic choices, energy management, energy audit, policies and strategies, financial issues as tariffs and financing mechanisms, environment issues and follow up of Paris Agreement/December 2015, with also preparation to COP 22 in Marrakech/ November 2016 especially regarding energy efficiency in electricity sector and Climate Change.
