نزعة بيانات كمية إلى العنقدة حول قيمة متغيّر. عادة ما يحدد مركز القيمة المركزية أحد مقاييس الموقع مثل المتوسط، الوسط أو النمط.
يتم قياس مدى قرب القيم التي تتجمّع كالعنقود حول القيمة المركزية من خلال أحد مقاييس التشتت مثل الإنحراف المتوسط والإنحراف المعياريّ.
