توليد سلسلة من المشاهدات حيث تعتمد قيمة كل مشاهدة جزئيًا على قيم المشاهدات التي سبقتها مباشرة، أي أن كل مشاهدة تربطها علاقة انحدار بواحد أو أكثر من المصطلحات التي تسبقها مباشرة.
يمكن اعتبار مخطّط الانحدار الذاتي عملية تصادفيّة من نوع شرطيّ.
