Experts Training Workshop on Electricity Sector Reform and Restructuring in Syria |
This workshop is in line with the strategic framework of UNESCWA on supporting Member Countries to develop national policies for sustainable development. It will be addressing the electricity sector in Syria, assisting the stakeholders in shaping the sector vision, setting priorities, and developing practical plans for reforms and restructuring to ensure the sector sustainability given the current situation and the Syrian crisis effects. |

Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees in Iraq and the Requirements of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 |
Refugees and internally displaced persons are still ongoing crises in Iraq and in many countries in the Arab region, not only as a result to the armed conflicts, but also as economic and social challenges. These crises are burdening the affected Arab governments and societies from finding comprehensive solutions. The challenges and threats of the refugees’ crisis exceed the national levels, currently it is one of the most fundamental humanitarian crises at the international level. It grabbed the attention of most of the International organizations and governments, working together to draft resolutions and policies to subside this influx and its dimensions. Furthermore, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and mainly in the Goal 16, is considered among the most emphasized plans dealing with issues of refugees, immigrants, and internally displaced persons. |
