16 January 2017	Governance-adjusted Human Development Index: The case for a broader index and its implications for Arab States	This paper broadens the dimensions of the HDI by proposing a framework to include governance achievements, and produces a Governance Adjusted Human Development Index (GHDI) to better measure human development across countries.

19 January 2017	The 1st Arab Leadership Dialogue on Science Advice to Governments	Under the Patronage of Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan (RSS) and President of the Board of Governors of the UN-ESCWA Technology Center (ETC), the Science Diplomacy Program at RSS, UN-ETC in partnership with International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA) and US Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global), held on 13-14 December 2016, the 1st Arab Leadership Dialogue on Science Advice to Governments, in Dead Sea, Jordan.
19 January 2017	Developing the Capacity of ESCWA Member Countries to Address the Water and Energy Nexus for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: Resource Efficiency Module	This module addresses water and energy efficiencies as a key to a water and energy secure future for the countries of the ESCWA region, taking into account the impacts of climate change. Furthermore, when considering water and energy, the production of one depends on the other; also the efficiency for both these types of resources must be pursued simultaneously through a holistic water-energy nexus approach.
19 January 2017	Call for Nominations for the 2017 United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA)	The United Nations has begun accepting nominations for the 2017 UN Public Service Awards (UNPSA). The deadline for receiving nominations for the UNPSA is 28 February 2017. The annual UNPSA was launched in 2003 in order to promote and support excellent innovations in public service delivery worldwide. In 2016, the UNPSA was reviewed and aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.
20 January 2017	Workshop on Deployment of Carbon Capture, Use and Storage in the Arab region, Challenges and Opportunities	To explore the challenges and the opportunities for Carbon capture , use and storage (CCUS) and examine the side effects of this technology for the Arab region. Strengthening the capacity of Governments of Arab countries on mainstreaming the energy-related SDGs into their national development plans and within the context of the SDPD work program for 2016-2017.
