In keeping with the recommendations of the WSIS "Tunis Agenda for the Information Society" and in order to propel the WSIS momentum forward, ESCWA is holding, a conference entitled " Regional Follow-up to the Outcome of the World Summit on the Information Society ". The conference will take place at the Umayyad Congress Palace in Damascus, between 16 and 18 June 2009.

Training of Trainers on Strategic Planning for Palestinian Officials |
Since establishing a strategic plan is the basis of a successful endeavor, ESCWA intends to implement a practitioners' workshop, or training of trainers on Strategic Planning for 22 Palestine officials in Beirut from 7-13 November 2008. |

Technical Committee, 2nd Meeting |
The Technical Committee was established pursuant to the decision of the Commission at its twenty-fourth session and with the aim of enhancing interaction and close consultation between the members of the Commission and its secretariat on substantive development issues. The sessions of the Technical Committee are held every six months, starting January 2008, and its membership comprises high-level senior officials designated by the member governments of the Commission. |
