The report was prepared jointly by ESCWA staff and experts working on UN-ESCWA’s National Agenda for the Future of Syria Programme. The event will commence with a presentation of the report, which is divided into the following three sections: - The economic impact of the conflict in Syria; The presentation will be followed by a discussion by a group of economists and development experts. Program Cycle Management and Proposal Writing Training Program |
Further to a request from the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs, ESCWA organized a five-day intensive training workshop on Programme Cycle Management and Project Formulation at the UN house in Beirut, from 21 to 25 October 2013. The training aimed at enabling the Lebanese cadres to address the national agenda for social development and find potential donors, with the aim of enabling the Ministry to deliver social services and social assistance not only for the Lebanese but also for Syrian refugees. |

Analysis of Performance and Assessment of Growth and Productivity in the ESCWA Region, Third Issue |
Resource mobilization dynamics in the diversified ESCWA region are not uniform. In that sense, this study presents an empirical and analytical survey of the savings and investment climates in the ESCWA region by means of analyzing conditions in the region and comparing them to those in other developing countries. Furthermore, the study explores economic policy options available to policymakers with regard to enhancing economic growth and income in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). |

Meeting on the Framework for Management Development in Iraq |
As part of the "Capacity Building of the Iraqi Public Sector Management" project, implemented in partnership with UNDP Iraq, ESCWA will hold a Meeting on the Framework for Management Development in Iraq on 21-23 March 2009 in Beirut, Lebanon. It is expected that the meeting will build upon the conclusions and outcomes of the Stakeholders Meeting scheduled on 15 March 2009 in Baghdad, Iraq, which involves the active participation of major public sector stakeholders concerned by public sector development, and aims to identify the needs and priorities of the public sector. |
