Social Policy Brief, Issue No.3, International Migration of Youth in Arab Countries |
This brief deals with youth migration in Arab countries, as it reviews the reasons of this migration as well as the different mechanisms of its administration. In recent decades, Arab countries registered several social accomplishments that improved the living standards of a wide range of social categories. Through enhancing education opportunities for different social classes, countries managed to limit the gaps in school enrolment rates for both sexes, as well as between large and small cities and urban and rural areas. |

As part of the "Capacity Building of the Iraqi Public Sector Management" project, implemented in partnership with UNDP Iraq, ESCWA will hold a Meeting on the Framework for Management Development in Iraq on 21-23 March 2009 in Beirut, Lebanon. It is expected that the meeting will build upon the conclusions and outcomes of the Stakeholders Meeting scheduled on 15 March 2009 in Baghdad, Iraq, which involves the active participation of major public sector stakeholders concerned by public sector development, and aims to identify the needs and priorities of the public sector. |

Evolution of opportunities for early childhood development in Arab countries |
This report contributes to the review of early childhood development (ECD) opportunities in the Arab region by expanding historical coverage and putting our existing knowledge regarding ECD opportunities in perspective of their longer-term trends. By combining country-level results across multiple survey waves, this study identifies new patterns regarding evolution of ECD opportunities in the Arab region during recent years. |

Participatory Workshop on the Political Participation of Lebanese Women |
ESCWA Centre for Women (ECW), in collaboration with the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), organized a consultative participatory workshop on Women’s Political Participation and Representation in Lebanon, on 4 April 2019 at the United House in Beirut.
The workshop brought together male and female representatives of the Lebanese political parties as well as independent political activists, in addition to members of NCLW. |

Evaluating the capacity of Iraqi institutions in implementation and coordination |
The workshop aims to evaluate the capacity of institutions working in the health, education and labor sectors in addition to the municipal institution in Al-Hamdania district (Nineveh governorate) to meet the challenges of reconstruction and the integration of IDPs, based on an assessment of institutional capacities in the implementation of planned projects, and in addition to assessing the coordination capacities among different bodies, governmental and non-governmental and international organizations. |
