The Technical Committee was established pursuant to the decision of the Commission at its twenty-fourth session and with the aim of enhancing interaction and close consultation between the members of the Commission and its secretariat on substantive development issues. The sessions of the Technical Committee are held every six months, starting January 2008, and its membership comprises high-level senior officials designated by the member governments of the Commission.



Within the framework of the High Level Dialogue on Energy 2021, the online Side Event on “Women-led rural development through renewable energy” is organised by ESCWA in partnership with ENERGIA, GWNET, and SEWA on the sidelines of the Ministerial Thematic Forum on Enabling SDGs through Inclusive, Just Energy Transitions.
 
The objective of the side event is to convene regional and international partners active in gender empowerment, rural development, and renewable energy to exchange experiences and lessons learned from the challenges and opportunities facing gender empowerment and rural development.

Lebanese Minister of Finance Rayya Hassan and ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa will open a regional workshop on “Public Finance Reform: A Roadmap for Modernization and Good Governance.” The workshop, co-organized by ESCWA and the Basil Fuleihan Institute (IOF), is scheduled to open at 15:00 on Monday 31 May 2010 at the Institute's premises in Beirut. The opening will witness the launch of a reference guide on ‘Best Practices in Public Finance Management’.
