30 May 2019	ESCWA bolsters cooperation with sister agencies	Beirut-Nairobi, 28 May 2019 (ESCWA)--United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Rola Dashti, signed yesterday two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with UN Environment and UN Habitat on the sidelines of her participation in the first UN Habitat Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya.
30 May 2019	ESCWA signs technical cooperation memo with Iraq	Beirut, 30 May 2019 (ESCWA)--United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Rola Dashti today signed a Technical Cooperation (TC) framework with the Iraqi government, represented by the Minister of Planning, Mr. Nouri Al-Dulaimi, for the period 2019-2020.
1 June 2019	Enhancing capacity building addressing Water and Energy interlinkages for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region	In the framework of addressing the Water - Energy nexus, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing in collaboration with UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and support from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund, an Expert Group Meeting on “Enhancing capacity building addressing Water and Energy interlinkages for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region”. The objective of this Meeting is to strengthen the capacity of ESCWA member countries and other relevant stakeholders in terms of enhancing their ability to achieve an integrated and sustainable management of water and energy resources through South-South cooperation, thereby contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It intends to facilitate exchange of lessons, insights and experiences to-date among Member States and all stakeholders and to consider challenges and opportunities for furthering progress towards 2030.
1 June 2019	12th Regional Training Workshop on Capacity Development for Climate Change Negotiations for the Arab Countries	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), and in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), the United Nations Environment, and the Cairo office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is organizing the “Twelfth Regional Workshop on Capacity Development for Climate Change Negotiations for the Arab Countries” from 7 to 8 April 2019, in Beirut.

5 June 2019	The Future of Arab Economic Integration in a Changing Global Trade Landscape	This workshop intend to provide capacity building support to Member countries and Regional Organizations on the Arab trade integration performance with the objective to accelerate the full implementation of PAFTA and facilitate the negotiations on the ACU taking into account Arab trade integration projects with the rest of the world and the changing global trade policies.
5 June 2019	Committee on Water Resources, 13th session	The session will offer a platform for member State representatives to discuss issues including progress in achieving water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region; the water-energy-food nexus; regional cooperation on climate change; and progress made in implementing the Committee’s twelfth session recommendations.
5 June 2019	Committee on Energy, 12th session	The twelfth session of the Committee on Energy will offer member State representatives a platform to discuss issues including progress in implementation of energy-related Sustainable Development Goals and targets in the Arab region; mainstreaming those Goals and targets into national development plans; the water-energy-food nexus; regional cooperation in climate change issues; and the activities of the ESCWA Group of Experts on Fossil Fuel.
