The impact of industrial policies on the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises is examined in this study and analytical tools for impact assessment are suggested. Industrial policies implemented by ESCWA countries to help firms access information on international standards in order to enhance their international competitiveness are analysed and information access in Lebanon is featured as a case study. |

Shared Waters-Shared Opportunities: World Water Day |
Shared water is a vital resource for many people around the world. In the ESCWA region, major shared rivers include the Nile, Tigris, Euphrates and Jordan. Many less well-known underground water reservoirs are also shared. Opportunities for negotiation and mutually beneficial use of water also exist in riparian countries, many based on principles of international law and resolutions on shared water. |
