11 December 2014	ESCWA Joins ‘Green Business Opportunities in Lebanon’ Meeting	Beirut, 13 June 2011 (UN Information Service) — In cooperation with ESCWA, the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon and the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut and the International Finance Corporation, Lebanon Opportunities Magazine is holding a conference on ‘Green Business Opportunities in Lebanon’ on Tuesday 14 June at 4:00 PM at the Movenpick Hotel.
12 August 2015	School Students Visit ESCWA, Get Briefed on its Activities	"What ESCWA is, What ESCWA Does," was the main theme of a briefing presented by Nadine Daou, Researcher in ESCWA Social Development Division, and Mirane Abi Zaki and Maryam Sleiman, Public Information Assistants, to a group of students from the FrÃ¨res Libanais School- Hadath, who visited ESCWA headquarters on 4 and 5 May 2015.
11 December 2014	LBCI Condemns Attacks Over Transmission Facilities	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy today received a letter by the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) condemning the Israeli attack over the station’s transmission sites, which took place on 21 July 2006, and resulted in “killing one of its employees manning one of these facilities and injuring 2 others.” The Corporation asked Tallawy to transmit its condemnation to international references.
26 February 2015	World Economic Situation and Prospects 2015	On 19 January 2015, a press conference was held by ESCWA to launch the World Economic Situation and Prospects 2015 (WESP) report from the UN House in Beirut. WESP is produced at the beginning of each year by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the five UN regional commissions, ESCWA included, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
11 December 2014	AlDafa Visits Hariri’s Tomb Tomorrow Tribute to the Man who Brought ESCWA Back to Beirut	On the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa visits the tomb of late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri tomorrow Tuesday, 21 July 2009, at 11:30 AM. The visit is a tribute to the man who brought ESCWA’s headquarters back to Beirut, its official and permanent seat. The UN Information Service kindly requests news media to grant this visit the highlight it deserves.
11 December 2014	UN Deputy Secretary-General Visits Lebanon	UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson visits Beirut to participate in the 17th meeting of the UN Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) hosted by ESCWA on 10 December 2012 at the UN House-Beirut. During his visit, Eliasson is scheduled to meet with the Lebanese Head of State, House Speaker and Prime Minister, alongside a number of Lebanese personalities. The Deputy Secretary-General will also pay a visit to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and to the Caritas Centre in Ghazieh accredited by the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to register Syrian refugees.
11 December 2014	Jordanian Minister of Information and Communication Technology to Open an UN-ESCWA Workshop Next Monday	Jordanian Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Basem Rousan will open the UN-ESCWA Workshop on “Establishing Public Private Partnerships (PPP) for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Initiatives” hosted by the Ministry of ICT (MoICT) in Amman from 26 February to 1 March 2007. The workshop, which will open at exactly 09:30 am next Monday, will be organized in cooperation with the Jordanian MoICT, the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), and the Institute of Public Private Partnership (IP3).
27 July 2017	Executive Secretary in Geneva	United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim, met last week with the group of the Arab Ambassadors accredited to the United Nations in Geneva, where he briefed them on the current work and activities of ESCWA aimed at establishing economic and social cooperation among its Member States and at achieving regional integration.
14 August 2017	Executive Secretary Continues Official Visits in Host Country	UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim continued on 7-11 August 2017 his official visits to a number of officials in the host country, Lebanon. Hakim visited Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun on top of a delegation comprising ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary for Program Support Khawla Mattar and ESCWA Chief, Security and Safety Section Said Jannoun.
11 December 2014	Star Academy 2006 to Visit UNESCWA Friday	The popular contestants of Star Academy 2006 will be visiting UNESCWA headquarters in Beirut at 2pm, Friday 5 May 2006. Their visit begins with a meeting with UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy followed by a press conference to launch the musical concert they plan to hold at the UNESCO Palace as part of the side events of the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session.
