UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy today received a letter by the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) condemning the Israeli attack over the station’s transmission sites, which took place on 21 July 2006, and resulted in “killing one of its employees manning one of these facilities and injuring 2 others.” The Corporation asked Tallawy to transmit its condemnation to international references.

In a press release attached to the letter, the Corporation considered that “Israel’s attack on the LBCI facilities is an affront to freedom of expression and to the Lebanese population.” The Corporation asked journalists and officials worldwide “to investigate this matter and hold Israel accountable for this reckless act.”
