On 19 January 2015, a press conference was held by ESCWA to launch the World Economic Situation and Prospects 2015 (WESP) report from the UN House in Beirut. WESP is produced at the beginning of each year by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the five UN regional commissions, ESCWA included, and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). During the press conference, a statement was delivered by Head of the Development and Globalization Division (EDGD), Moctar Mohamed El Hacene, who was introduced by ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Abdallah Al Dardari.
