7 June 2017	Workshop on Turnover Indices	ESCWA organized a training workshop on turnover indices on 22-24 May 2017, in Muscat, Oman. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Statistical Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council States (GCC-Stat) and the National Center for Statistics and Information in the Sultanate of Oman (NCSI). It was held in the context of implementing the activities under the project “Strengthening the Statistical Capacity of ESCWA Member Countries in Producing and Disseminating Short-term Economic Indicators for Sustainable Growth”.
11 December 2014	ESWA Meets on ICT for Disadvantaged Communities	The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) is organizing a workshop to empower disadvantaged communities through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The “Telecentre Leaders Forum” workshop will be held on 15 and 16 July 2009 at the Jordanian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, Amman.

30 September 2019	ESCWA and IRENA renew cooperation agreement for five years	Beirut, 25 September 2019 (ESCWA)--Today, ESCWA and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) renewed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) they had signed on January 2015 to strengthen cooperation between them in the coming five years. The MoU was signed by the Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Ms. Rola Dashti, and the Director-General of IRENA, Mr. Francesco La Camera, on the sidelines of the UN 74th General Assembly in New York.
11 December 2014	New Website on UNESCWA Regional Advisory Services	UNESCWA has just launched a new website showcasing the activities of its Programme Planning and Technical Cooperation Division (PPTCD), which plays a support role in planning, coordinating and monitoring UNESCWA projects and activities. This website will provide access to UNESCWA services as well.
11 December 2014	Tunisia Hosts Regional Commission's 28th Ministerial Session	Under the banner of “Social Justice in the Policies of Arab States”, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will hold its 28th Session from 15 to 18 September 2014 in the Regency Hotel, Tunis. The Session will highlight the importance of Arab cooperation in establishing new development models to meet growing demands for social justice and equality.
6 April 2017	Technical Cooperation between ESCWA and Morocco	ESCWA, represented by its Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support Khawla Mattar, signed on 16 March 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, represented by Minister Mohamad Al-Wafa. The MoU aims to provide a framework for inter-institutional dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest in the fields of sustainable development over the period 2017-2019.
11 December 2014	Judges Are Briefed on UNESCWA Programmes and Activities	Thirty-five judges paid a visit to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) today to learn more about the UN organization, its history, mission, and structure. The student group was greeted by the Deputy Executive Secretary of UNESCWA, Mr. Atif A. Kubursi, who briefed them on the UN, specialized agencies, and programmes, as well as specific UNESCWA programmes.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Launches Electronic Seminar on “Democracy and Participation”	Beirut, 13 June 2012 (ESCWA Communication and Information Unit) — ESCWA has recently launched an electronic seminar on “Democracy and Participation.” Held from 4 June to 30 July 2012, this open forum is intended to think through some of the various challenges facing democratic transitions in Arab countries, focusing on the prerequisites of democratic rule and the relationship between democracy and civic engagement.
26 July 2016	ESCWA Assistance for the Jordanian National Statistical Strategy	ESCWA, through an advisory mission, is taking part this week in reviewing the National Statistical Strategy of Jordan, in response to a request by the Department of Statistics (DOS) and in cooperation with the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (Paris 21).
