5 December 2014	Expert Group Meeting on Promotion of Digital Arabic Content (DAC)	As a follow-up on the Western Asia Preparatory Conference for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) that was held in Beirut from 4 to 6 February 2003, and culminated with the Beirut Declaration, and within the regional preparatory activities for the first phase of the Summit, to be held in December 2003, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing an Expert Group Meeting on “Promotion of Digital Arabic Content (DAC)” that will take place from 3 to 5 June 2003 at the UN-House, Beirut, Lebanon.
10 December 2019	Expert Group Meeting on Multidimensional Poverty in Arab Countries	The expert group meeting aimed to present the findings of the revised Arab Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) and the different sensitivity analysis scenarios in an attempt to enhance inter-country and temporal comparisons and provide more accurate poverty assessment and monitoring in the region.
20 March 2020	Introducing Web Scraping in Price Data Collection	The International Comparison Program (ICP) team at ESCWA has been exploring new ways to improve price statistics in the Arab Region by using technology to implement non-traditional data collection methods. This initiative aims at increasing data collection frequency and quality, while also growing work efficiency by facilitating continuous automated extraction of price data for both CPI and ICP purposes.
20 March 2020	Introducing Web Scraping in Price Data Collection	The International Comparison Program (ICP) team at ESCWA’s has been exploring new techniques to enhance price statistics in the region by using technology and Big Data tools as a non-traditional data collection method complementing traditional data collection. This initiative aims to improve data quality, raise the frequency of data collection, reduce field visits and increase work efficiency by ensuring regular automated extraction of price data from online outlets for both CPI and ICP purposes.
1 March 2019	Capacity Development Workshop on Methods to Cost Violence Against Women	Capitalizing on the importance of costing VAW and the momentum that ESCWA has created in this area, ESCWA in partnership with Westminster Foundation and the Coalition of Women MPs from Arab Countries to Combat VAW, held a two-day advanced capacity development workshop on 27-28 March 2019 at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel in Beirut.
25 January 2021	Statistical Committee, 14th session	The 14th session of the Statistical Committee will be held online over two days, on 10 and 11 February 2021. At its 14^th session, the Statistical Committee will follow up on progress in statistical activities in member States and the ESCWA secretariat since its previous session, which was held in Beirut in January 2019. It will also discuss monitoring challenges related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), regional priorities for the coming years in the field of statistics and an ESCWA guide for a general law on official statistics for Arab States.
9 March 2020	Supporting the Monitoring and Implementation of the SDGs in the Arab region: Transboundary water cooperation SDG 6 Indicator 6.5.2	The workshop is jointly organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), ESCWA and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the framework of the UN Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6. The workshop aims to assist countries in the Arab region to collect, report and make use of data on SDG indicator 6.5.2 measuring progress in transboundary water cooperation, in the perspective of preparing the second reporting cycle in 2020.
25 April 2019	CSOs Forum in preparation for the Forth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit	ESCWA and ANND organized a Civil Society Forum in Beirut on 10-11 January 2019 ahead of the 4^th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit.
5 December 2014	Workshop on Micro-insurance as a Mechanism for Social Protection for the Agricultural Sector in Lebanon	In the framework of its current focus on extending social protection in Arab countries, the Social Policy Section in the Social Development Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), is organizing a workshop on microinsurance as a mechanism for social protection for the agricultural sector in Lebanon. The workshop will be held at the UN House in Beirut on the 1st October 2013 from 8:30 to 14:00.
