As part of the partnership between ESCWA, Arab Women Organization and UN Women, a regional training workshop on reporting to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was held between 30 September and 2 October 2019 in Beirut.
The three-day workshop targeted 32 participants representing foreign ministries, national women’s machineries and civil society organizations from nine Arab countries (Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia). |

Death Registration Systems and Mortality Statistics in the Arab region |
The expert group meeting on death registration systems and mortality statistics in the Arab region was organized in support of a study under preparation by the Statistics Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization (WHO-EMRO). The study focuses on death registration systems and their associated mortality statistics in the Arab region. |

Final meeting for the energy consumption in the transport sector survey project and result launching |
In the context of completing the project on energy consumption in the transport sector project, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) organised a final meeting on launching the results of the survey for the three recipient countries, Egypt, Jordan and Palestine, between 23 and 24 July 2015 at the United Nations House, Beirut, Lebanon. |
