| moving weights | In most cases where a moving average is taken of a time series the weights composing the average are constraints independent of time. In such cases the weights themselves may be moving averages of time series and are said to be moving weights. | cyclical component of a time series | The cyclical component of a time series refers to (regular or periodic) fluctuations around the trend, excluding the irregular component, revealing a succession of phases of expansion and contraction.
