UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy today expressed her appreciation for the firm support of the United Arab Emirates to UNESCWA and its commitment to the continuation of the regional commission’s programmes and activities.

Under the auspices of Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Planning Ahmed El Magraby, and in the presence of Mr.

Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy stressed that not once did UNESCWA stop its work in the service of Lebanon and other member countries, even during the war.

UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy said that by 2015, it is projected that 82 million people in the Arab world will lack access to safe water and 124 million people will not be able to get basic water treatment utilities if urgent measures are not taken to improve the present situation.

UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy returns to Beirut tomorrow via Rafik Hariri International Airport at 02:30 pm. Tallawy will deliver an important statement upon her arrival to the airport.
