The Third Meeting of the UNESCWA Consultative Committee on Scientific and Technological Development and Technological Innovation (ESTIC) is due to take place on 6 and 7 March 2006 at the Holiday Inn Dunes Hotel (Verdun) in Beirut.

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), one of the regional bodies of the UN, said Western Asia is facing a dangerous strategic challenge in relation to the water situation given that the origin of most water in the region lies outside it.

UNESCWA will present the key-note speech at a two-day conference on "Municipality Action" at the Crown Plaze Hotel, Manama, Bahrain, on 26 March.
