"ACWUA signed an agreement with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia UN-ESCWA) to support establishing a regional mechanism for improved monitoring and reporting on access to water supply and sanitation services in the Arab Region (MDG+ initiative) The project activities aim to establish and institutionalize a regional mechanism for monitoring and reporting on access to water supply and sanitation services in the Arab countries in view of developing a knowledge platform that provides reliable data, information and analysis regarding the quantity and quality of access to water supply and sanitation services. The project is based on the MDG+ initiative that was approved by the Arab Ministerial Water Council (AMWC) and is based on the basic water and sanitation MDG indicators and refined, by incorporating a number of additional indicators, to further clarify the level and quality of water and sanitation services in the Arab countries."
