The Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for The Environment (CAMRE) launched the Arab Initiative for Sustainable Development, which aims to “confront the challenges facing the Arab states in order to achieve sustainable development”. The initiative emphasized the commitment of the Arab countries to the implementation of the international initiatives and efforts to support and expedite environmental, social and economic development to achieve long term sustainability.
