In the context of ESCWA Project "Strengthening the Development of International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS) and the Compilation of e-commerce in Member Countries of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)", ESCWA is organizing the second Workshop that is planned within the project's activities and will be held in Cairo, from 12 to 15 June 2008.

1- To present and discuss international guidelines for production of external trade indices.

2- To discuss data quality control.

3- To raise awareness in the area of calculation of external trade indices.

4- To exchange expertise between the ESCWA member countries.

1- Experts from National Statistical Offices, Customs Authorities and Central Banks in the

    ESCWA Region

2- Experts from UNSD

3- Other UN agencies, regional and international organizations will also be attending. 

 

1- Papers prepared by ESCWA.

2- Papers prepared by UNSD.

3- Papers prepared by participants on their national experience in the area of compiling, processing, validating and publishing unit value statistics.

 

The language of the workshop will be in Arabic and English. Simultaneous interpretation to both languages will be made available.
