Within the "Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening of the Iraqi Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works”, a Programme implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) – Iraq, and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The Conflict Mitigation and Development section (CMD) is organizing a five-day Workshop on Gender and Leadership from 15 - 19 March 2008 in Amman, Jordan.
The Training aims to improve the awareness and skills of elected women at the local councils with regard to gender related policies and policymaking, with emphasis on municipal work/service delivery. The Training also aims to improve the leadership skills of participants to advocate rights of women with regard to municipal services. The training will also provide participants with practical tools on gender mainstreaming, in line with an overview on policy development and gender responsive planning.
