Operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. Community based initiatives department was established in 2006 but the community health activities was introduced in the Sultanate of Oman in 1992 with the introduction of The Community Support Group which aimed to assist in the promotion of breast-feeding and complementary feeding practices.
