8 December 2017	Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2016-2017	This report focuses on the analysis of the most recent socio-economic developments to meet two objectives. The first one aims at demonstrating the analytical observation of routinely monitored economic and social variables of the Arab region. The second area of focus aims at an in-depth analysis on the regional impacts of ongoing fiscal reforms. In particular, an analysis of the implementation of a value-added tax in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the major fiscal reforms in Tunisia and Egypt are undertaken.

5 December 2014	Expert Group Meeting on the Impact of the Crisis in Syria on MDGs and Launch of the "Cost of conflict in Syria: The impact on the economy and MDG goals"	The report was prepared jointly by ESCWA staff and experts working on UN-ESCWA’s National Agenda for the Future of Syria Programme. The event will commence with a presentation of the report, which is divided into the following three sections: - The economic impact of the conflict in Syria; - The impact on the Millennium Development Goals in Syria; - Future expectations under the continued conflict The presentation will be followed by a discussion by a group of economists and development experts. 20 May 2015	Regional Profile of the Information Society in Western Asia, 2011	The information society, in which information is processed efficiently, including the production, exchange, adaptation and use of information, is the appropriate environment for achieving sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. However, the move towards the information society constitutes a real challenge to developing countries, particularly in view of the expanding digital divide with developed countries, thus rendering them increasingly vulnerable to reduction in their productive and economic capacities.
