أدانت وكيلة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة والأمينة التنفيذية للجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا (الإسكوا)، د. ريما خلف، الجريمة المروعة المتمثلة بقتل الرضيع الفلسطيني علي سعد الدوابشة حرقاً في منزله في قرية دوما الفلسطينية المحتلة على يد مستوطنين إسرائيليين، وأكدت أن هذه الجريمة تأتي في سياق مسلسل اعتداءات المستوطنين شبه اليومية على الفلسطينيين وممتلكاتهم، فكان سبق هذه الجريمة أكثر من 120 اعتداءً مباشراً منذ بداية العام الحالي فقط. |

Measuring and Monitoring the Living Conditions in Palestine |
On 14 April 2015, ESCWA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) at the UN House in Beirut on the implementation of a survey to assess the impact of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip in 2014, and the socioeconomic living conditions of Palestinian households in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. |

Change Management in Public Sector Reform in Iraq |
"Change Management in Public Sector Reform in Iraq" was the title of the capacity development workshop held by ESCWA in Istanbul, Turkey, from 20 to 28 April 2015. It was organized in collaboration with the Lebanese Institutes des Finances Basil Fuleihan within the framework of the Iraq Public Sector Modernization (IPSM) Programme of the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) which has been supporting the public sector reform agenda of the country, such as decentralization, service delivery, and capacity development. |

2nd Session of the Arab High-Level Forum on Sustainable Development |
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the city of Manama saw the gathering of around 400 Arab high level personalities in the Second Session of the Arab High-Level Forum on Sustainable Development (AFSD), which was organized by ESCWA and the UN Environment Program (UNEP) in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS) on 5-7 May 2015. |

Third UN Global Road Safety Week |
Under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nohad El Mashnouk, and on the occasion of the Third UN Global Road Safety Week, ESCWA convened a workshop in Beirut, which gathered political, cultural and artistic personalities. The workshop was launched with a choir of Abi Bakr Al Siddiq School students who performed traditional songs promoting road safety. Following the opening, attending personalities signed the "Child Declaration on Road Safety". |

ESCWA Supports Kuwait for New Groundwater Research Project |
Within the framework of advisory services provided by ESCWA to member countries, the Commission contributed with the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) in the preparation and finalization of the concept note and project proposal for a new groundwater research project. This project aims at enhancing the knowledge and skills of stakeholders in the water sector to formulate policies, implement programmes and develop institutional frameworks aimed at promoting integrated management of water resources. |
