Global Harmonization of Arabic Script Use in Domain Names, 4th Meeting |
During the past three decades, ASCII characters were the only allowed characters to be used in the domain names of the Internet. However, the start of the new millennium introduced the concept of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) which allowed the use of non-ASCII character sets, including the Arabic script, in domain names. |

The workshop was organized in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and under the patronage of the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Hussein Al Hajj Hassan. |
