The five United Nations Regional Commissions namely, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), are jointly organizing with the government of Tunisia “The Fifth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development", on 4-7 November, in Hammamet, Tunisia.

How severely has the political, security and humanitarian crisis escalated in Iraq, Libya, Palestine and Syria? To what extent does it negatively affect neighboring countries? Are the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) maintaining a stable economic recovery? What are the financing gaps in the region? And what role does the regional economic integration occupy in the Arab region?
All these questions will be answered in the Survey conducted by ESCWA during a press conference held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday 19 November 2014, at the UN-House, Riad El Solh Square, Beirut.

Under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Telecommunications Boutros Harb and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf and with the strategic partnership of the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications and Ogero Telecom, ESCWA hosts the Third Annual Meeting of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF-III) on 26 and 27 November 2014, at the Movenpick Hotel, Beirut. The event will be preceded on 25 November by a workshop for capacity building on Internet governance.

Lebanese Minister of Telecommunications Boutros Harb, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf, Lebanese Minister of State for Administrative Reform Nabil de Freige, and Director General of Ogero Telecom Abdulmunim Youssef tomorrow inaugurate the “Third Annual Meeting of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF-III)” at 9:30 AM at the Movenpick Hotel, Beirut.
The master of ceremony in the opening session will be the media figure Mounir el Hafi.
