Beirut, 24 September 2010 (UN Information Service) — Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Saleem El Sayegh, ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa and the Head of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Lebanon Samir Farah will open a workshop on “Social Protection as Development.” The workshop is scheduled to open at 09:30 on Tuesday 28 September 2010 at Bristol Hotel in Beirut. |

Advisory Bodies and Focal Points |
The Advisory Committee The Advisory Committee was established under ESCWA resolution 175 (XV), of 18 May 1989, to bolster the work of the Commission. It is made up of heads of diplomatic missions in the host country, and a high-level representative of that country. The Committee plays a consultative role and facilitates contact between member States and the ESCWA Secretariat, and among member States themselves, on matters requiring attention between the Commission’s biennial sessions. It meets every four months at ESCWA headquarters in Beirut. |

Technical Cooperation between ESCWA and Morocco |
ESCWA, represented by its Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support Khawla Mattar, signed on 16 March 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, represented by Minister Mohamad Al-Wafa. The MoU aims to provide a framework for inter-institutional dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest in the fields of sustainable development over the period 2017-2019. |
