11 December 2014	The UN Greens the Blue	On 5 June (World Environment Day) 2007, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on all UN agencies, funds and programs to become climate neutral and 'go green'. Since then, all UN organizations have been working together to put in place systems and procedures to measure and reduce the environmental impacts of the UN family. “I would like to see our renovated Headquarters complex eventually become a globally acclaimed model of efficient use of energy and resources. Beyond New York, the initiative should include the other United Nations headquarters and offices around the globe”.

11 December 2014	ESCWA Participates in the International Arab Banking Summit	ESCWA Executive Secretary Badr Omar AlDafa delivered a speech today at the opening of the International Arab Banking Summit –(IABS 2010) entitled “From Crisis to Financial Stability” that opened today in Istanbul , under the auspices of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The summit is organized by the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central bank of Turkey, the Turkish Banking Association, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency and the World Union of Arab Bankers.
11 December 2014	Continuous Cooperation between ESCWA and GOIC	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) signed on 20 June a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC). This MoU represents a statement of intent by the parties to work together and outlines the basis, collaboration and joint activities in fields of mutual interest. In the signing ceremony held in Qatar, ESCWA was represented by its Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa, and GOIC by its Acting Secretary-General Loulwa Bint Abdullah Al Musnad.
