The workshop is to prepare a national innovation system legislation roadmap to address the gaps and recommendations identified at both national and institutional levels in Morrocco. Policy makers will have evidence to draft specific proposed initiatives to support the national research, development and innovation eco system. |

Workshop on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in Palestine |
In line with its efforts to promote the environmental component of the 2030 Agenda in its member countries, ESCWA organized a Workshop for Palestinian officials on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in Palestine. This Workshop is based on a request received by ESCWA from the Environment Quality Authority (EQA) of Palestine, whereby asking for ESCWA’s technical support on the subject. |

International Conference on Financing Sustainable Development, Alexandria, Egypt |
ESCWA, and in partnership with the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport, organized an International Conference on Financing Sustainable Development in the Arab Region in Alexandria, Egypt during the period 17-18 December 2014. The conference focused mainly on tax efficiency, workers’ remittances and innovative sources of finance. The meeting was attended by a large number of participants from different countries and agencies interested in the topics of discussion in addition to the presence of 2 ministers from Egypt and the head of the Academy. |

Beirut, 8 August 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim today visited Lebanese Minister of Labour Mohammad Kabbara. Both sides discussed cooperation between ESCWA and the Ministry. The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Commission Karim Khalil and ESCWA Chief of Modeling and Forecasting Section Mohamed Hedi Bchir. *****

Bulletin of Industrial Statistics for the Arab Countries 2001-2007, No. 6 |
The Bulletin of Industrial Statistics for the Arab Countries aims to provide detailed industrial data on Arab countries for the users of such statistics, including policymakers, analysts and researchers, in order to assist them in meeting their needs in this area. The publication includes time series of data and indicators for the period 2001-2007. Data are drawn primarily from national sources, as well as from secondary sources where appropriate. The Bulletin is divided into two parts. |

Effective National Technology Transfer System in Morocco |
As part of the Development Account project “Establishing National Technology Development and Transfer Systems in Selected Arab Countries”, ESCWA Technology Center (ETC) conducted the second workshop on “Effective National Technology Transfer System in Morocco” in cooperation with its national partner organization in Morocco; National Centre for Scientific Research and Technology (CNRST) on 26 April 2017 in Rabat, Morocco. |

Brainstorming session on rehabilitating the Iraqi construction sector |
With the participation of 18 contributors from Lebanon, Iraq and the region, the objective of the session was to formulate a strategy to enhance the active involvement of the domestic construction industry of Iraq in the reconstruction and maintenance of Iraq''s physical make-up. Based on the deliberations, a project proposal for UNDG was prepared by UNESCWA that combined both theoretical views with realistic aspects presented by the Iraqi participating experts. |
