ESCWA, United Nations Statistics Division in New York (UNSD) and OPEC prepared for the Workshop on Energy Statistics in ESCWA Member Countries. Experts from the Economic Commission for Europe participated in this workshop and the Seminar on Energy Reserves/Resources Classification in OPEC countries. Representatives of ESCWA member countries were invited to participate in this workshop, and 10 member countries were represented. Two participants from Iran, an OPEC member country, participated as well. |

The Workshop, which will open at 9:30 tomorrow Tuesday 24 May 2016, aims at building the capacity of the public sector in Arab countries in order to enhance the sustainability of renewable energy penetration in rural areas by fostering sustainable renewable energy markets. Issue No. 34 of the National Accounts Studies of the Arab Region includes available data and estimates made by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) of GDP at both current and constant prices, in addition to the consolidated national accounts for each ESCWA member country during the period 2009-2013, and the estimated real GDP growth for 2014. Data were compiled from national statistical sources and by using questionnaires prepared by ESCWA. This publication is intended for economists, social researchers and policymakers. |
