This report explains the political framework, particularly the events of 1948-1967 and 1967-1987, the First Intifada, the Oslo Years and the Second Intifada. This period led to the serious deterioration of the life of the Palestinian population and women have taken on more of the family responsibilities and burdens because of the worsening economic conditions. The document also explains the gender gaps in Palestinian society through different factors: the age and distribution of the population, the fertility and mortality rates and the types and status of Palestinian households. |

The ESCWA Annual Report reviews the activities of the Commission in 2006, which were severely affected by the devastating war of aggression that was unleashed against Lebanon in that year. Regional Training Workshop on Reporting to the CEDAW Committee |
As part of the partnership between ESCWA, Arab Women Organization and UN Women, a regional training workshop on reporting to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was held between 30 September and 2 October 2019 in Beirut.
The three-day workshop targeted 32 participants representing foreign ministries, national women’s machineries and civil society organizations from nine Arab countries (Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia). |
