11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA Statistical Committee Convenes	On 14 October, the UN-ESCWA Statistical Committee opened its 8th session at the UN House. Attending the meeting were delegations from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Sudan. Also present were representatives of specialized UN organizations, and regional and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
29 November 2016	First Model ESCWA Partners with Youth in Spreading Agenda 2030	Thirty five students from the American University of Beirut (AUB) representing different background and nationalities gathered in the Conference Hall of the United Nations House on Saturday 19 November 2016, and simulated the central decision making process of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), its Ministerial Session, focusing specifically on the theme of the upcoming 29th Session to be held in Doha, Qatar, on 13-15 December, under the title “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region”.
11 December 2014	ESCWA holds a Regional Workshop on Women for Arab Parliaments	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) opened today a regional workshop for Arab parliaments on implementing the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and ending violence against them. This workshop is held at the UN-House Beirut, and organized by ESCWA in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Lebanese Parliament and the United Nations Development Programme-Parliamentary Development Initiative in the Arab Region (UNDP-PDIAR).
26 February 2015	ESCWA and DEC Partner to Discuss Macroeconomic, Sector Policies Coordination and Arab Economic Integration	In partnership with the Dubai Economic Council (DEC), the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing an expert group meeting on “Macroeconomic and Sector Policies Coordination and Arab Economic Integration” on 23-24 November 2014, at the Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

22 July 2019	At High-Level Political Forum, ESCWA urges persistent commitment to 2030 Agenda	Beirut-New York, 22 July 2019 (ESCWA)--A delegation from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) concluded a 2-week long round of meetings at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) held on 9-18 July in New York, where it conveyed the voice of the Arab region, urging persistent commitment to 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

25 June 2020	ESCWA and FAO discuss regional production and consumption for sustainable land management	Regional talks commemorating Desertification and Drought Day 24 June 2020 – The Arab region needs to innovatively sustain its land and protect it from degradation and loss in order to ensure a sustainable future. This was the main message of the joint FAO-ESCWA celebration of Desertification and Drought Day under the theme “Food. Feed and Fibre” held virtually on Monday across the Arab region.
8 January 2014	Statistical Abstract of the Arab Region, No.33	The Statistical Abstract of the Arab Region presents time series statistics and indicators on core areas of economic and social development in ESCWA member countries. This issue consists of twelve chapters, each focusing on one of the following topics: population, labour force, education and illiteracy, health, gender equality, air pollution, energy, national accounts, industry, foreign trade, financial statistics and prices, and information and communications technology.
11 December 2014	Study on Arab Women’s Movements Launched by UNESCWA	Speaking at a press conference to launch a pioneering study on the “Status of Arab Women 2005: History of Women Movements in the Arab World” today, UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy said the road ahead was still long and fraught with difficulty for Arab women. She hoped for a consolidation of the national social efforts in all their aspects as well as international efforts to propel women to continue their path. Tallawy stressed the inaccuracy of saying Arab women are backward as this places the responsibility on them for a backward society.
