Knowledge Management and Analysis of ESCWA Member Countries Capacities in Managing Shared Water Resources |
Water scarcity is a fundamental challenge to sustainable development in arid and semi-arid regions. The problem is accentuated by the fact that most of the water resources used by ESCWA countries are shared resources that originate from outside the region. There are seven major shared surface watercourses in the ESCWA region, with an average annual discharge of approximately 195 billion cubic meters (BCM). |

ESCWA and ALI Launch Green Production Help Desk |
ESCWA, in cooperation with the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), is holding a press conference on Thursday 27 June 2013 at 11h00 AM to launch their joint project entitled “Green Production Help Desk (GHD)”, at ALI premises in Sanayeh. Opening statements will be delivered by Nehmat Frem, Head of the Lebanese Industrialists Association, and Roula Majdalani, Director of ESCWA Sustainable Development and Productivity Division. A presentation will follow on the project and its work mechanism. |
