Training on Management and Strategic Planning for the Iraqi Housing and Construction Sector |
Thirteen senior civil servants from the Iraqi Ministries of Construction and Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, and Amanat Baghdad have completed a two-week training on management and strategic planning. The training workshop forms a component of the UNDG Iraq Trust Fund funded UN HABITAT project “Strengthening the Capacity of the Housing Sector in Iraq”. The training was structured around a strategic planning exercise covering a set of management topics. |

Hakim visited Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun on top of a delegation comprising ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary for Program Support Khawla Mattar and ESCWA Chief, Security and Safety Section Said Jannoun. |

The ESCWA region is facing critical natural resource problems. Climate change, population growth, food insecurity, water scarcity, extreme weather events and regional tensions over shared water resources are challenges that make effective management of natural resources to promote sustainable development imperative. Member countries have shown a growing interest in assessing the impact of climate change, including extreme weather events, and socioeconomic vulnerability. |
