UN Retreats in Turin Discuss Priority Issues |
UN-ESCWA Executive-Secretary Badr Omar AlDafa took part end of August in two UN retreats in Torino, Italy. The first retreat held between 29 and 30 August was the Second Senior Managers Retreat, while the second was the UN Regional Commissions Retreat between 31 August and 2 September. |

On the one hand, the growing cities generate such economic development dynamics as employment opportunities and creative urban cultures. On the other hand, they face such growing challenges as inequity, violence, social exclusion and poverty. |

Technical Committee, 2nd Meeting |
The Technical Committee was established pursuant to the decision of the Commission at its twenty-fourth session and with the aim of enhancing interaction and close consultation between the members of the Commission and its secretariat on substantive development issues. The sessions of the Technical Committee are held every six months, starting January 2008, and its membership comprises high-level senior officials designated by the member governments of the Commission. |
