Beirut, 11 October 2019 (ESCWA)--The United Nations Library and Information Network for Knowledge Sharing (UN LINKS) is the United Nations system libraries’ platform to share know-how and best practices among UN librarians, and to engage in a dialogue with the local library community of the host country on issues of common interest.
 

Beirut, 25 Oct 2011 (UN Information Service) —ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) opened today an expert group meeting on “Promotion of South-South Cooperation in Technology Transfer”. The meeting is organized in collaboration with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon (FCCIAL), and held at the Chamber of Beirut. Speakers at the opening session included Director of ETC Fouad Mrad and Director General of the Industrial Research Institute in Lebanon Bassam Frenn.

The youth group in the ESCWA region faces numerous challenges, including poor quality of education, incompatibility of education system outputs with the labour market, high unemployment rates, unhealthy life styles and low participation in decision-making and public and political life. In that regard, ESCWA focuses its activities on the need to address youth as a socio-demographic group that should be targeted with special national policies. As part of those activities, ESCWA publishes the fourth issue of the Population and Development Report which contains three parts.

This report describes migration patterns and developments in migration governance in the Arab region as well as the links between migration and SDGs.
