Working Groups

RICCAR implementation is supported by two working groups and two task forces comprised of representatives from Arab Governments, Arab regional organizations, United Nations organizations serving the Arab region and international experts. The two working groups are technically and financially supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the project Adaptation to Climate Change in the Water Sector in the MENA Region (ACCWaM), which supports RICCAR.

C. Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Adaptive Capacity Indicators

The adaptive capacity task force was established to support the preparation of the vulnerability assessment at the Arab regional level through technically reviewing, with regional experts, the adaptive capacity indicators associated with socio-economic aspects and regional maps on indicators related to educational expenditures, technological development, innovation, access to electricity, number of hospital beds per 1000 inhabitants, access to improved water, access to improved sanitation, governance indicators, GDP per capita, HDI, Age dependency ratio, unemployment, and gender inequality. 

D. Vulnerability Assessment Task Force on Sensitivity Indicators

This task force is established to support the preparation of the vulnerability assessment at the Arab regional level through technically reviewing, with regional experts, the sensitivity indicators related to population, natural resources and man-made environment as well as associated regional maps on the indicators related to population, population distribution, urbanization, urban exposure, land use/land cover, total renewable water resources, degradation of vegetation cover, soil storage and flood risk.
